Adley P. Pederson, 77, of Forest Lake, MN, died on April 5, 2019 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Adley Philemon Pederson was born on August 23, 1941 at the family farm in rural Winger, MN to Alvira (Raaen) and Peder C. Pederson, Jr. He attended grade school in Winger and continued his education at the Crookston A.C. During his youth, Adley was an active member in the Polk County 4-H program where he showed Hereford cattle. Shortly after his time in Crookston, Adley met the love of his life, Gloria Truehl, and they were joined in marriage on April 11, 1964. To this union three children were born: Stephen, Shannon, and Sonia. Adley served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from service in January 1966. Following his military service, he began his 35-year career driving semi-truck for Land O’ Lakes. He received an Award of Honor for One Million Miles of Accident Free Driving. Adley continued in the 4-H program as a leader with his three children and enjoyed helping them with their livestock and projects. There was not a fair he did not like. Adley retired from Land O’ Lakes in 2001. After retirement, he and Gloria spent many winters in Arizona where he enjoyed riding bike across the desert to morning coffee. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Gloria; their children, Stephen (Martee) and their son Connor of Arden Hills, MN; Shannon (Myron) Jepson of Oakes, ND, and their children, Andrew of Fargo, ND, Shantell of Fargo, ND, and Allison of Oakes, ND; Sonia (Scott) Forslund and their daughter Elizabeth of East Bethel, MN. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Sirjord of Amery, WI; sister-in-law, Jean Kurtz of Alexandria, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peder and Alvira Pederson; parents-in-law, Carl and Martha Truehl; brothers-in-law, John Sirjord, Ray (Dee) Truehl, and Erwin Kurtz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN and will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service and a time of sharing will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
