Alan J. Newton, age 73, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 5, 2025. Al was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Al was born on March 20, 1951 in Winterset, IA to Owen and Irma Lee Newton. Al graduated from Ogden High School where he played football and sang in the choir. Al went on to attend classes at St. Paul Bible College where he met the love of his life and wife for 51 years, Gloria (Mills). Al and Gloria were married on June 23, 1973 and started their family in 1977. He was a faithful servant of Jesus. Al loved music and was always singing. His enjoyment of music began at a very young age and continued throughout his life where he used his musical giftings to serve in many ways. Al was always a hard worker and joyfully provided for his family for 35+ years at NuAire, Inc. in Plymouth, MN. During his retirement, Al and Gloria enjoyed traveling to many locations with family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Owen and Irma Lee, mother and father-in-law George and Lorraine Mills, brother Randy Newton, nephew Patrick Newton, and brother-in-law Michael Widmer. He is survived by wife, Gloria, son AJ (Jamie), son Aaron (Gina Berg), Angela Wellman (Erik), grandchildren Lelah, Miles, Hans, Lydia, Lucia, Nels, and Adeline, brothers Monty (Bonnie) Newton and John (Sherri) Newton, and many extended family members.
Al will be known for his welcoming, loving nature. He always had a smile and a hug for everyone, and loving others as Jesus did.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Crossroads Evangelical Covenant Church 17445 Notre Dame St. NE, Columbus, MN. Family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial at West Immanuel Cemetery, Osceola, WI.
