Wife, mother and grandmother

Age 78 of Forest Lake, passed away peacefully into the hands of God on April 25, 2009.

Preceded in death by husband, Jack D. Reese

Survived by son, Mark (Lori) Reese; daughters, Melissa (Mark) Felland, Mary (Stephan) Twist. Also survived by grandchildren, Emma Grace, Jack and Marcella Reese; Jon, Daniel and Anna Felland; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty was an avid quilter and spent many “therapy” hours with her quilting friends JoAnne, Sue, Jen and Mary Lou. She documented her family’s life in her detailed scrapbooks and journals. For many years and before starting her family, Betty taught elementary school and touched the lives of students and co-workers.Her greatest achievement was being the best wife, mother and grandmother that she could possibly be. The last months of her life were spent surrounded by friends and family that were incredibly generous with their time, thoughts, deeds and gifts of food and conversation, and for that we are deeply grateful. She taught us to live and to die with grace and humility and she always had a grateful heart and a kind word or bit of wit for others. She will surely be missed each and every day.

Celebration of her life 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1790 11 th Street SE, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends from 3-7 p.m., Friday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be dedicated to a scholarship fund in Betty’s honor.
