Brian Funkhouser

Brian E. Funkhouser, our amazing husband and father, age 43, of Lindstrom, Minnesota, died suddenly, Wednesday, December 16, 2020.  Brian was born November 15, 1977 in Fridley, Minnesota the son of James and Judith (Maynard) Funkhouser.  Brian attended Forest Lake High School.  Following high school, he married the love of his life, Leah Proulx.  They were united in marriage June 26, 1998.  Together they raised their pride and joy, Zachary in Lindstrom, Minnesota.  Brian’s career spanned various companies as he excelled in maintenance engineer, ending with his most recent job at Clearway Energy.  Brian enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales, pursuing Facebook Marketplace, and tinkering.  He was a man of few words but will be forever remembered for his witty and funny nature, his generous spirit and his ability to fix just about anything.  He was extremely loving, kind and family oriented.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents; mother, Judith; mother-in-law, Shelia Proulx; niece, Hailee LaMeyer.  He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Leah; son, Zach (Payton Dvorak); nineteen year old four-legged daughter, Bailey the Cat; father, James; siblings, Mike, David (Jennifer), Janet Cornelius, Mary (Fred Sciarratta), Karen, Linda Nys; father-in-law, Lee Proulx; sisters-in-law, Heather (Mike) Abrahamson, Heidi (Chad) LaMeyer; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will greet friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake.  Graveside Services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.  Brian’s family requests you to wear jeans, sweatshirts and ballcaps in true Brian style.  To ensure the safety and health of all in attendance, we will be following the guidelines of Executive Order 20-62, masks are required to be worn.  Please call for additional information.
