Carolynn Schloer

Carolynn Schloer, age 78, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 7, 2017. Carolynn Grace Koethe started her life journey on July 21, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles & Emily (Poirier) Koethe. She attended local schools; during high school at Alexander Ramsey High she met James Schloer, they were married on September 4, 1956 and started their life journey together. They started a family with the birth of a daughter, Lynnette Marie on July 8, 1957 and another daughter, Janette Carolynn on July 25, 1958, then sons, Mark James born July 12, 1961, James Matthew on September 26, 1967 and Brent Alan on August 20, 1971. This growing family moved from Shoreview to Forest Lake in 1969 and on 5 acres of land they started filling it up with her beloved animals, dogs, geese, horses even some pigs and cattle over the years, but she loved her dogs with a passion. She loved to fish and her target on the lake was bass, she enjoyed riding her horses, camping, motorcycle trips, deer hunting and many other activities with the family. She spent most of her years at home taking care of the family, but she did work out of the home for brief periods at New Image and Country Casuals in Northland Mall, she also worked in production at Sandy Manufacturing in Wyoming, Minnesota, waitressed at Perkins in Forest Lake and was a dispatcher for Bazey's Towing. Her family was her life and she preferred staying at home and tending to them and her animals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emily Koethe; brother, Charles (Punky) Koethe. She is survived by her husband, James Schloer; daughters, Lynnette(Dean) Smith, Janette (Dave) Hohenauer; sons, Mark (Cindra), James M. (Ann) and Brent (Siri); 12 grandchildren, Kaleb Schloer, Travis Schloer, Amanda (Matt) Dickey, Cindy-Jo (Nate) Rundhaug, Chad Smith, Shannon (Jamie) Fort, Carolynn (Joe ) Hammer and Mindy (Jamie) Hohenauer, Corrina Furniss, Courtney Seesz, Blayze Schloer, Gunnar Schloer; 19 great-grandchildren, Autumn Schloer, Adyson Schloer, Austin Schloer, Hailea Schloer, Aubrianah Schloer, Jace Dickey, Jaeger Dickey, Rainalynn Fort, Lane Fort, Layton Fort, Easton Fort, Weston Fort, Reid Fort, Magnolia Smith, Layla Smith, Alyssa Leos, Corrin Hammer, Brooke Hammer, Savannah Hammer; sister, Claudette (Duane) Oberg; brother, Richard (Audry) Koethe, numerous nieces, nephews and many longtime friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Sunrise Bible Church, 41300 Second Street, North Branch, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and continue one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
