Charlie Carpenter

Charles Lee "Charlie" Carpenter, age 91 of Forest Lake Passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at home while surrounded by his family. Charlie was born in Deer Lodge, MT, and moved back to Minnesota as a child. He worked for many years as a machinist, and then surprised us all by going into the restaurant business. He had the Square Peg Restaurant in Minneapolis for three and half years before opening Charlie's Place in Forest Lake. He ran that restaurant for ten years, where his Bread Pudding became well known. Since then, he spent much time keeping his yard green, his Morning Glory's in bloom and lots of cooking and baking and sharing it all with his friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Janine Marie; siblings, Mae Baxter, Emery, Calvin, Dave Carpenter. He will be dearly missed by his devoted wife of 65 years, Donna; children, Ken (Joanne), Larry, Terri (Randy) Cohrs, Jody (Neil) Cowdin; four grandchildren, Kyle Griffin, Corissa Hermsen, Kelsea Chamberlin, Jennifer Carpenter; siblings, Luella Poe, Effie Peterson, Mary Walsten. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at Forest Lake Christian Church, 420 West Broadway Avenue, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Forest Lake.
