Dallas Gileck

April 30, 1929 — January 9, 2008

Dallas L. Gileck, formerly of Terrytown, LA and McCloud, CA, died on January 9, 2008. He was 78 years old.

Mr. Gileck was a retired Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer and a veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam wars. He was a former member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 92 in McCloud. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Mt. Shasta Lodge 2333 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was also a member and past Grand Noble Recorder of E Clampus Vitus Humbug Chapter 73.

He was born in Walla Walla Washington on April 30, 1929. He went to school at Freewater, Oregon. Mr. Gileck moved to Port Angeles, Washington in 1950 and joined the U.S. Navy shortly after the outbreak of the Korean War. After discharge from the Navy he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and completed 23 years of total service. He moved to McCloud in 1974 and worked for U.S. Plywood until 1978. He then went to work for Northstate Security in Redding until he was forced into early retirement by an injury. He moved to Terrytown, Louisiana in 1995. He was a member of Terrytown American Legion Post 378.

Preceded in death by son, Dwight and sister, Sheila Gileck.

Mr. Gileck is survived by his wife Mary Gileck of Forest Lake, MN; sister, Joyce Heller of Walla Walla; sons, Ronald (Donnie) of Spokane, Kenneth (Laurie) of Stacy, MN; daughters, Sheila (Dave) Hagar of Milton-Freewater and Desiree (Brian) Cadwallader of Stacy, MN; 15 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. At Dallas' request there will be no services. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, MN.
