Daniel Simon

Daniel Patrick Simon, age 53, of Stacy, passed away on March 4 2018.

Daniel “Dan” was born in St. Paul, MN on January 25, 1965 to Charles “Charlie” and Rita Simon (Lachowitzer).  He grew up in South Saint Paul, MN.  He graduated from South Saint Paul High School and attended Brown Institute of Minneapolis.

Dan married Joanne Torkelson on November 9, 1991.  They had two children Allison and Brandon. They shared a love of outdoor and enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends.

Dan served in the US Navy as a hospital Corpsman from 1984 to 1988.  He was stationed at Orlando Naval Hospital and Naval Hospital Adak Alaska.

Dan worked at Stile Machinery as a field tech specialist this past year.   Prior to Stiles Dan was employed in the sign supply industry for 20 years.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, listening to music, watching old movies and reciting his favorite lines from each.  He excelled at philosophical (debating) conversations with others.

Dan is survived by his wife Joanne; daughter Allison and son Brandon; his mother Rita, his brother Doug and his sister Lisbeth (Tom) Sims; many nieces, nephews, Aunt and Uncles as well as many many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Charlie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Church of Saint Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake.  The family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and one hour prior on Thursday at the Church.  Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
