David P. Ensrud, age 83, passed away peacefully on Dec. 31st, 2017 at Ecumen Parmly LifePointes. He was born on June 28th, 1934 to Theodore and Mabel Ensrud in McVille, ND. David had a twin brother, Donald P. Ensrud and a younger brother Raymond L. Ensrud. They were raised on a farm in Hugo and Forest Lake, MN. After graduating from high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably from 1953-1957. He was stationed in Coronado, CA as part of Beachmaster’s Unit as a radio serviceman with tours in Korea and Japan. Upon return from duty, Dave married Judith M. Brooks on April 12th, 1958. They resided in Forest Lake, MN and raised 3 children together. He worked diligently as a machinist and retired from Wyard Industries. Dave loved playing golf with friends and family, reading, watching football and was musically inclined. He and Judy sang in the Faith Lutheran Church Choir for many years and he loved the voices of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother and son Greg Ensrud. He is survived by his wife Judy, brother Ray, daughters Lori Nilson (Rick) and Linda Reinhart (Jeff), 7 nieces/nephews, 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the staff at Fairview Lakes Hospital, Ecumen Hospice and Parmly LifePointes for their attentiveness and loving care in his final weeks of his earthly life. There will be a private Christian Memorial Service with military honors for his family at Mattson Funeral Home. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
