David N. Gabrielson

David Norman Gabrielson, a longtime resident of Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota, passed away on September 13, 2023, at the age of 73. Born on November 4, 1949, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, David was the son of Harland and Florence Gabrielson.

David graduated from Stillwater High School and went to further his love for learning at the University of Minnesota.  He obtained a bachelor's degree in political science and an arts degree specializing in Cinematography.  While attending the U of M he met and fell in love with Judith Matheson, they were united in marriage in 1979.

After his studies, David embarked on a fulfilling career in the outdoor equipment sales industry.  His career later transitioned to a secondary passion of his in graphic designer for the Carlson Group. His impeccable talent and eye for design made a lasting impact on the industry, and he was highly respected by his colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional achievements, David's true joy in life came from embracing the great outdoors. He had a deep connection to nature and found solace in activities such as skiing, biking, and canoeing. He particularly excelled in canoe racing, competing passionately in races across the East Coast. Even into his 50s, he fearlessly participated in the Birkie, an iconic cross-country skiing race held in Hayward, Wisconsin.

In addition to his adventurous spirit, David had a profound love for music and photography. He shared his musical talents as a member of a band called the River City Boys. His passion for capturing moments led him to become an avid photographer, capturing the beauty of the world around him through his lens.

David Norman Gabrielson will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace and continue to inspire us with his unwavering passion and zest for life.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Gabrielson, Pamela Sherwood-Gabrielson.  He is survived by his sons, Matthew (Sarah) Gabrielson, Dan Gabrielson, Tom (Carlirae) Gabrielson; grandchildren, David, Anna, Jordyn, Carlyle; former wife, Judith; other family and friends.
