David George Thelen

David George Thelen (1926-2023) passed away on September 3, 2023 due to the effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in Chisago City, Minnesota. He was born in Frazee, Minnesota to Mathis and Martha Thelen and had two sisters, Shirley Swanson, and Audrey McNurlin. He grew up in Frazee, Minnesota until he was drafted for WWII where he served in the United States Army in 1945.  With the end of the war, he returned to Frazee where he met and married Gloria Fett.  They were married for 61 years until her death. They had three sons, Michael, Barry, and Scott. Barry died in a boating accident in 1979.  While David had multiple jobs and even a service station, he became a machinist for printing presses for most of his career until retirement in 1991.  In 1993, he and Gloria enjoyed retirement by traveling and visiting family.  David relished talking to anyone and everyone at any time. The family is planning a private event. He will be missed.
