Delano Schmidt

Schmidt, Delano E. "Del" Age 79, of Chisago City, Minnesota Del Passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Del was born in Ellsworth Wisconsin in May of 1933. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic for 8 years during the Korean War conflict, where he was stationed in France. Del married his first wife of 29 years, Stasia Steinbach in 1954 as she supported his tour of duty in the Air Force. Soon after leaving the Air Force, Del went to work as an Electronics Technician for Sperry-Univac in Roseville, MN for nearly 30 years. In 1988 he married his second wife of 25 years Janet Sandeen. He is preceded in death by his sister, Bea. He is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Jim, Bob (Deb), Ron (Leah), Gerry (KrissAnn), Roger (Rolanda), David (Janet), Dennis (Lisa), Mark Black, Linda Black, Michael Black and Lori Stafelda (Mike); nineteen grandchildren; Eric Schmidt, Dana Waldon, Kayla Schmidt, Aaron Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt, Kevin Schmidt, Jim Heath, Miranda Schmidt, Emily Schmidt, Terra Schmidt, Jenni Aquino, Allie Schmidt, Dennis Schmidt, Alex Schmidt, Brandon Schmidt, Alyssa Schmidt, Tommy Strafelda, Gina Strafelda, and Michelle Strafelda. thirteen great grandchildren; sister, Gerry; former wife, Stasia Wienke; many other extended family and life-long friend, Gordy Kobett. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Mattson Funeral Home located at 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at South Green Lake Cemetery, Chisago City. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Military Honors are being provided by the VFW as well as four of his grand-kids, currently serving in the Military.
