Dolores Scholastica Byrne (formerly Narikawa, maiden name Lidberg) February 20, 1933 – November 21, 2015 Dolores Scholastica Byrne passed on to a better place after a 4 month battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma. She left us while in the presence of her husband, Leo, on November 21, 2015. She grew up in St. Paul, and later lived most of her life in Chisago County, most recently in Stacy, Minnesota. She married Lawrence Narikawa, who preceded her in death in 1972. She married Leo Byrne in 1973, and they've enjoyed over four decades volunteering for numerous causes, and raising their children.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents William Raymond and Bernice Lidberg (nee White), brother Raymond Lidberg, and first husband Lawrence Narikawa. She is survived by loving and devoted husband Leo, custodial great-grandson Nicholas, children David (Judy) Lidberg, Lawrence Narikawa (Margaret Wagner, Victoria Holbert), Malia Narikawa, Susan Narikawa (John Kobler), Naomi Narikawa (Don Lanoux), Diana Mach (George); step-children Leo Byrne (Danielle), Amy Jensen, and Kim Mattson (Michael); grandchildren Sean Lidberg, Ryan Lidberg, Keiji Narikawa, Erik Narikawa, Ryan Narikawa, Kelly Cooper (John), Mark Kobler (Kendra Glad), Ryan Kobler, David Narikawa (Carolyn), Tina Olson (Luke), Myah Lanoux (Daniel Berglund), Caleb Lanoux, Alisha Hoag, Melanie Johnson (Ben), Nathan Dvorak, Jeremy Mach, Travis Byrne, Tara Byrne, Michelle Fogelquist, Nicole Jensen, Michael Mattson, Monica Mattson; and great-grandchildren Alana Olson, Allison Olson, Aiden Olson, Dylann Cooper, Ellison Cooper, Jack Cooper, Taylor Cornelius, Onami Narikawa, Amatarasu Narikawa, Zachary Hamilton, Melanie McCullough, Giada Hoag, Vincent Hoag, James Jensen, Nevaeh Jensen Whitelaw, Syr Davies, and 1 great-great grandchild pending. Throughout her life, Dolores was always at her best when helping others. She was a nurses aid at Ancker Hospital; cub scout den mother, volunteered for: a day activity center for disabled children, the American Red Cross as both a first aid instructor and disaster relief coordinator; St. Paul Police Reserve; Civil Air Patrol; St. Paul Humane Society; Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center; Minnesota Zoo; Dodge Nature Center; Minnesota Science Museum; and Wild River State Park as a naturalist & campground host. But her most rewarding and challenging experiences came in raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Many of them have lived with her over the course of their lives, and all of us grew to be better people because of her. The family wishes to express their profound thanks to the staff of Fairview Hospital – Wyoming, Meadows on Fairview – Wyoming, Birchwood Health Care Facility – Forest Lake, and Interim Healthcare - Hospice. Over the course of my mother's illness the staff of all these facilities provided care and support to Dolores and her family. While it's their job to provide care for their patients, we found so many staff that genuinely cared, not only for Dolores, but her family as well. We also wish to thank Pastor Ed and Pastor Mary Ellen of St. John's Lutheran Church – Stacy for their support and spiritual guidance. There will be a memorial service/celebration of life at St. John's Lutheran Church, 31075 Genesis Avenue, Stacy, Minnesota at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
