Douglas G. Glenn, age 62 of Forest Lake, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Doug was born on February 3, 1949, in Minneapolis, to Edmund and Stella Glenn. He attended Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from DeLasalle High School in Minneapolis in 1967. He received a Tool, Die and Mold Making certificate from Dunwoody Institute in 1970. In 1975, Doug married Helen (Lynn) Lusikka and the couple resided in Brooklyn Center and then Ham Lake. They also enjoyed their lake home at Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Doug worked in the family business, Glenn Metalcraft, Inc. until 1983 when he purchased C & R Metal Specialties in Bloomington, MN. In 1986, Doug started a new corporation- Douglas Metal Products. In 1991, the companies moved to France Avenue North in Brooklyn Center and Doug changed their names to Douglas Metal Specialties and Douglas Metal Spinning. He sold the businesses in 2006 and retired. Doug loved spending time with family and friends, golfing, traveling, and boating on Balsam Lake. He was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. Doug will be remembered for his devotion to family, his enduring friendships, his innovative problem solving skills, and his keen sense of humor. Doug is survived by his wife, Helen (Lynn), and daughters, Jerilyn and Janet. He is also survived by his sisters, Lynne Vien of Peoria, AZ, and Susan (Thomas) Callahan of Mesa, AZ, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Stella and his brother, Dennis. Funeral will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials preferred to The University of Minnesota Medical Foundation for pulmonary fibrosis research.
