DuWayne Perry Jones, "Papa" AKA Preachin Jones, 81 of Forest Lake MN, previously Maplewood, MN, died peacefully surrounded by his family after a short, but hard fight with cancer.
He is preceded in death by wife, Carolina; baby sister, Janet; and parents, Perry and Katherine (Novinski) Jones. He leaves behind his daughter, Deborah (Mark Thompson) Jones, Dawn (Terry) Knyphausen; grandchildren: Ryan, Danielle "Danny" (Branden), Randi "Randie", Christopher, and Zeth; great grandchildren, Afton and Hudson; sisters: Carolyn, Darlene, Patsy, Geraldine; and other extended family. He was born in Sagola, MI, where he was a logger in his early years, joined the Air Force where he traveled and soon meet his wife Carolina Rutherford.
In 1960, DuWayne moved to St. Paul, MN where he began his long and much loved career in the transportation business. He loved his work so much that he continued to work until July of 2015 driving semi truck. DuWayne loved the outdoors where he participated in hunting, fishing, and camping. His final resting place in fact will be with his wife out West surrounded by it all. Above all, he loved his family. He was our rock and everyone's papa. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on January 2nd, 2015 in the French Room at the Dalles House in St. Croix Falls, WI, 720 State Rd. 35. Family will greet guests from the hours of 4-8 p.m. with a service at 5 p.m. Memorials may be donated to the family. Flowers may be sent to the Dalles House, French Room directly after 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2nd. Dalles House Inn and Holiday Inn Express are available for lodging.
