Ednard Barsness

Ednard Gordon Barsness Jr., age 74, died peacefully with his family at his side on March 10, 2014. He was born June 12th, 1939 to Ednard and Geneva Barsness in Starbuck, MN and lived most of his life in St. Cloud, MN and most recently, Forest Lake. On February 3rd, 1962, he married Josette K. Zavadil. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Starbuck High School, a licensed real estate broker, and retired from the JC Penney Co. His greatest joy in life was his family. Ednard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Geraldine Rasmusen. He is survived by his devoted wife, Josette; loving children, Gregory (Stephanie) Barsness and Brian (Sara) Barsness; four grandchildren, Samuel, Joseph, Erik and Eva Barsness as well as his sister, Karen Heggestad. Ednard was a proud member of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church and the Order of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed travel and playing golf with family and friends and was an enthusiastic sports fanatic. His favorite teams included the University of MN Gophers, the MN Twins and Vikings, and the Duke University Men's basketball team. Ed was admired for his long battle with multiple myeloma. May he rest in peace. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 12th, 2014 at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, 511 Groveland Ave Minneapolis, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
