Edward Hinrichs

Edward T Hinrichs, age 90, passed away Dec. 25, 2012 at the VA hospital. Born in St. Paul, May 23, 1922. Preceded in death by his wife, Randy; daughter, Linda Dukowitz and granddaughter, Danielle St. Onge. Father of 4 daughters. Survived by Patricia (Greg) St. Onge; son-in-law, Bill Dukowitz; Donna (Ken) Zaglin; Kathy (Dan) Poff; 9 grandchildren: DeAnna (Dukowitz) Larrabbe, Nicole (St. Onge) Reising, William Dukowitz, Anthony Poff, Ashley (Poff) Klofstad, Lea and Julia Benjamin Zaglin and 9 great grandchildren. Graduated from Vocational school as a cabinet maker, returning to that after the war, before becoming a construction superintendent. During WWII he was a flight engineer on B-17's, flying 32 missions. He worked for McGough Construction as a superintendent for most of his career. With his wife's help, they researched his bomb group of all downed planes and what happened to every crew member of those planes, resulting in the book Missing Planes of the 452nd Bomb Group. He was a lifetime woodcarver from grade school on. Family will greet friends from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Saturday, December 29th, 2012, with a ceremony by the American Legion at 11am. Full Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 225 and VFW Post 4210. An open house will follow the service at Edward's home from 1pm-5pm.
