Eleanore Swenson Kravik Passed away on October 21, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born June 9, 1916 near Dawson, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ormund Ainslie Kravik, parents Gustav and Mabel Swenson, sisters Dorothy (George) Palmer, Marilyn (Augie) Enevoldsen and Lois (Obert) Olson. She is survived by her sister Margaret (William) Sommers, Berlin, Wisconsin and her children Linda Kay Kravik Smith (Michael), Forest Lake, Minnesota, Kathryn Louise Kravik Just (James) Breckenridge, Colorado, Kathleen Lois Kravik (Russ), Stockton Springs, Maine and Mark Ainslie Kravik (Deborah), Osceola, Wisconsin and. Eleanore is also survived by grandchildren Terry Tschida (Lisa), Ann Marie Tschida, Nathan Reed Smith, Christopher Just (Molly), Travis Just (Kara), Charles Ainslie Kravik, Jessie Kravik, Emily Johnson (Chris) and Katina Kravik (Michael) and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Eleanore was a wonderful, caring woman who loved family. She enjoyed the good hearted banter between Ormund's Norwegian kin and her own Swedish relations. She carried on Scandinavian traditions and faithfully fixed the family's traditional Christmas Eve meal of lutefisk, lefse and fruit soup without complaint even though she would not eat the lutefisk herself. Prior to retiring, Eleanore was employed by the North St. Paul School System for eighteen years. Eleanore and Ormund spent their retirement years traveling to Europe, Australia and New Zealand. They visited their beloved Sweden and Norway several times. During the winter they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Mexico in their motor home and always came back with tales of adventure. Eleanore and Ormund lived on the North Shore of Forest Lake for over 40 years. They enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives from the U.S., Canada, Norway and Sweden. They enjoyed the many birds that came to their feeder as well as the flocks of ducks they fed every day.
A Celebration of Eleanore's Life will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be the following day at Madison, Minnesota. Memorials may be directed to Parmly Lifepoints, Chisago City, MN.
