Elsie Anette Groth

Elsie Anette Groth, age 93, died August 24, 2023.

Elsie was born in Wildrose, North Dakota and formerly of Stacy, Minnesota, before moving to Edison in 2018. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Embers Restaurant, Inc. in St. Paul for 23 years, retiring in 1992. Elsie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stacy, Minnesota where she was part of Bible Study, Social Ministry and helping people during their life and with the Funeral Ministry. After moving to Edison, Elsie worshiped at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Somerville where she was also active in the Bible Study. In MN she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Linwood Senior Center, Golden Club, Helping Hands, and Book Club in Stacy. Elsie enjoyed baking, making Lefse, reading, doing puzzle books, and winning at Cribbage and Farkle. She loved children and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elsie will be sadly missed by all.

She is preceded by her husband, Donald Groth who died in 1984; her parents, Alfred and Bertha Helle and her five sisters, Louise, Charlotte, Audrey, Carolyn and Janice.

Surviving is her son, Daniel Groth and his wife, Myla; daughter, Janice Thomas and her husband, Bret; sister, Mildred (Mickey) Shoop; grandchildren, Daniel Lanoux and his wife Jennifer, David Thomas and his partner Laura, and Kevin Thomas and his wife Elena; great grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Jackson, Joshua, Anthony; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 31075 Genesis Avenue North, Stacy, Minnesota.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Mahtomedi, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 300 Union Avenue, Somerville, New Jersey.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  A luncheon will follow
