Floyd Marcott, age 87, of Forest Lake MN, died Tuesday, July 29 at the Parmaly Health Care Center, Chisago City, MN. Funeral services will be held at

on Saturday, August 2 at 11 a.m.. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Mattson Funeral Home,

and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the
Scandinavian
Cemetery
in
Forest
Lake

Floyd Harold Marcott was born on April 13, 1921, in
St. Paul
Minnesota
, to Esedore Marcott and Marie (Picard) Marcott. He married Jeanette Wiberg from
Chisago
City
. They had two children, a daughter Karen (Marcott) Gates and a son, Gordon. Floyd served in World War II in the Army Air Corps. as a Flight Crew Master Chief . He was stationed in
Texas
,
Kansas
,
Colorado
,
Washington
, and
New Hampshire
during the war, training flight maintenance crews who then went overseas. After his war service, he returned to
Forest
Lake
to build the town’s Kaiser Frazer automobile dealership. After that, he established a trucking company, worked for a company which provided diesel engines for equipment used in the
Iron
Range
, and then he built a manufactured home park, Birchwood Terrace, located at
Wyoming
, MN in 1969. He “retired” in 1989 to devote more time to his love of fishing, flying and traveling. Floyd obtained his private pilot’s license in 1958 and owned two airplanes. He and Jeanette flew to many locations in
Minnesota
and
Wisconsin
. In addition, Floyd had a 28 foot boat which he and his wife took over to
Lake Michigan
where they kept it for their salmon fishing outings. And Floyd and Jeanette also enjoyed traveling in their motor home across 49 states and
Canada
. Weekends were often filled with local travel with family and friends joining them.
Alaska
and
Nova Scotia
were two fun-filled adventure locations for their travels.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanette of Forest Lake, MN; daughter, Karen (David) Gates of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Susan (Brad) Donabauer of Moorhead, MN, Jason Gates of Inver Grove Heights, MN; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brady, and Carter Donabauer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esedore and Marie Marcott, his son Gordon Marcott, many cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Leukemia Association or to the donor’s choice.
