Age 68 of Forest Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 29, 2009. Gene had courageously battled kidney cancer for 12 years.
Gene was born on June 8, 1940 in Lakota, North Dakota to Hilmer and Olga (Thompson) Carlson. Gene loved the outdoors and enjoyed trips up north, hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; sister, Stella Anderson; brother-in-laws, Lyle Anderson and Nels Rustebakke.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of 46 years; daughter, Paula (Russell) Oehme; son, Barry; grandchildren, Austin, Karly; sisters, Orpha Rustebakke, Eileen (Larry) Thurman; brothers, Curtis (Marlys), Ray, Gary, Larry (Uarda); many nieces, nephews & friends.
Funeral Service 11 am, Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation 5-8 pm, Wednesday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery, Forest Lake.
