George's deep trust in the Lord was reflected in his gentle smile, personal example and giving heart. He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, a pioneer in the turkey growing industry in Minnesota and a founder of the Forest Hills Golf Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine (Hauble); wife, Lillian; brothers, Frank, Larry, Clem; sister, Milly Knutson.
He is survived by his children, Diane (Roy) Rueb and Darrell Thurnbeck; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Vanselow and Mary Charpentier.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2006 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, with a rosary service beginning at 8:00 p.m., visitation will continue 9:00-10:00 a.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Forest Lake. Memorials may be directed to a charity of choice.
