Geraldine Dorothy Eckstein Adix age 91, of Chisago City, died Wednesday evening, September 19, 2007, at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake, following a brief illness.
A Memorial Service is being held 11:00 Tuesday morning, September 25, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 N. Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello, IA., at a later date.
Surviving are : 3 daughters, Adele Sandstede, Kansas City, Missouri, Marcia (John) Krantz, Forest Lake, Minnesota, and Susan Adix, New Brighton, Minnesota. 4 grandchildren, Aaron (Becky) Krantz, Rachel (Christopher) Krantz-Kent, Kristin (Eric) Capron, and Heather Sandstede. 4 great-grandchildren, Natalie and Garrett Capron and Hannah and Isaac Krantz. One sister, Loraine Dickenson, 5 nieces and 4 nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert, parents, 2 sisters and one brother.
Geraldine Dorothy Eckstein Adix was born, November 10, 1915, to Frederick C. and Frieda Eckstein, and was baptized into the Christian faith on November 28, 1915, in Peoria, IL. Geri affirmed her faith on April 13, 1930, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waverly, IA. All of her schooling, grade school, high school and Wartburg College, was completed while living in Waverly. On June 28, 1942, Geraldine and Herbert H. Adix were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Waverly. Throughout their married life, they served congregations in Avoca and Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Life Springs, Iowa, Kiester and Walters, Minnesota, and their last parish was Melvin, Iowa. They retired in 1981 in Monticello, Iowa.
After the death of her husband, Geri moved to Point Pleasant in Chisago City, MN. and became a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake. Geri continued in her devotion to the church by doing embroidery and tying rugs for mission quilters and knitting bandages for Global Health Ministries, in addition to making gifts for the family. She remained a great spiritual and mental support to her family, and continued to uphold them in prayer.
