Harry Benshoof

Age 94, of Scandia, passed away on July 1, 2010. He was born September 23, 1915 to LeRoy & Nelly Benshoof in Gary, SD. Harry married Myrtle Carlson on April 25, 1943. He spent five years in the Army. Two of those years were overseas during WWII. After he returned home, he and Myrtle lived on her home place in Scandia. He worked for Andersen Windows for 27 years and retired at 62 because of Myrtle’s health. Myrtle passed away in 1988. Harry kept himself busy by gardening and chores. He also volunteered in his community. Woodworking was his hobby. Harry and Myrtle never had children, but were close to nieces and nephews. He and Myrtle were longtime members of Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia.

Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife; eight brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Wendland of Milbank, SD; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Service 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Elim Lutheran Church, 20971 Olinda Trail N., Scandia. Visitation 12:30 until the time of service. Interment at Elim Lutheran Cemetery.
