Harry James BovairdAge 87Of Forest LakeHarry James Bovaird died Thursday morning (January 8, 2004) at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive in Forest Lake at 11 a.m. on January 31st. Pastor Phil Peterson will officiate. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in St. Paul. Harry Bovaird was born June 2, 1916 in St. Paul to James and Ragna Bovaird. In 1933 he graduated from Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa. Harry married Helen Hinich in 1938 and they had two children; James Michael and Cynthia Jean. During World War II, Harry was an aerial gunner in the American Air Corps. He received his honorable discharge on December 1, 1945. During his service duty, he and Helen divorced. On January 9, 1948 Harry married Jacqueline (Jackie) Mary Smith in Albert Lea, Minnesota. In the early 1950s they moved to St. Paul where Harry worked for Vogel Manufacturing. From the early 1960s until he retired in 1981, Harry worked for the Minnesota Highway Department of Transportation. Harry's beloved wife, Jackie, died on August 9, 1999. Harry was a member of Forest Lake's Faith Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. Harry had a wonderful sense of humor, was an avid golfer, and treasured time spent with his friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Twin Cities or Faith Lutheran Church.
