Heidi Kachel

Heidi Lea (Barfknecht) Kachel, age 48 of Forest Lake, Minnesota, peacefully went to be with her Saviour on August 5, 2011. Heidi was born May 8, 1963 in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Howard Barfknecht and Abby Johnson. She was united in marriage to Dan Kachel Jr. on February 15, 1997 in Washington County, Minnesota. Heidi was a dedicated employee of White Castle for 30 years. She obtained many achievements in her career. In 2005 she was A�A�A½Best of the BestA�A�A½ General Manager at castle #25, in 2009 she received the A�A�A½Operational ExcellenceA�A�A½ Award for that castle. Heidi enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, and spending many hours volunteering at Maranatha Assembly of God, Forest Lake. HeidiA�A�A½s greatest joy in life was interacting and embracing people. Heidi was known for her radiant smile, funny sense of humor, and love of people. She is preceded in death by her mother, Abby Johnson; brother, Dave Barfknecht; sister, Kathy Johanson; nephew, Rory Barfknecht. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of fourteen wonderful years, Dan; daughters, Jillian Pless, Stephanie Pless-Palmer (Chris); father, Howard Barfknecht; siblings, Wayne (Pat) Virkus, Melody (John) Wake; nieces and nephews, Nicole Barfknecht, Tabitha Barfknecht, Stacey Gay, Todd Boettcher, Brent Boettcher, Michael Herrick, Mark Herrick, Gabrielle Wake, Dustin Virkus, Derek Virkus; great nephews and nieces, John David Herrick, Michael Herrick Jr., Chaz Gay, Seth Gay, Jackson Gay, Christopher Boettcher, William Boettcher, Robert Boettcher, Nichols Boettcher, Mya Herrick; father-in-love, Daniel Kachel Sr.; sister and brother-in-love, Maria and Scott Leavens; many friends at White Castle, including best friend, Dorothy Resong. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Maranatha Assembly of God, 24799 Forest Blvd., Forest Lake. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
