Hermina Rasmussen

Hermina Alice Mesman Gunderson Rasmussen Hermina was born December 28, 1921 to John F and Henrietta (Westera) Mesman on a farm near Edgerton, MN. She was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church in Edgerton. Grades 1-4 were spent in a one room country school. The school closed and the children were then transported to school in the town of Chandler, MN. Hermina graduated from Chandler High School in 1940. In October of 1941 she was united in marriage to Merlin Gunderson. To this union four children were born. Moving to Forest Lake, MN in 1951 they began their life as farmers, she was very proud of being a farmer's wife. In 1967 the family moved to Scandia, MN. Hermina's life centered around her family and her church. Elim Lutheran Church was a very important part of her life. She sang in the church choir for many years as well as being active in the ladies aid and many other church activities. After the death of her first husband she became involved in one of the first recycling programs in MN. October of 1987 Hermina married Hall Rasmussen. They had twenty-two happy years together. Hermina will be remembered for her ever present smile, loving heart, wonderful sense of humor and her love for nature. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers as well as her first husband Merlin, son Allen Gunderson, son-in-law Everett Peterson and second husband Hall Rasmussen. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Peterson, Mesa, AZ., Darleen (J Randall) Morgan, McDonald, TN, son Don Jon (Joan) Gunderson, Lindstrom, MN, daughter-in-law Dawn Gunderson, Mesa, AZ., step children Donna Uhlendorf, Larry and Richard Rasmussen, St. Paul, MN. One brother Don (Marcia) Mesman, sister-in-law Helen Mesman, Platte, So Dakota, brother-in-law Floyd Bueklman, Edgerton, MN, brother-in-law Gordon (Irene) Gunderson, Minneapolis, MN. Eleven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, twenty six great- great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Elim Lutheran Church, 20971 Olinda Trail North, Scandia. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Elim Lutheran Cemetery, Scandia, MN.
