Howard was born May 5, 1925, to Victor & Mary (Simpson) Johnson in St. Paul, MN. He died September. 5, 2005, at University Hospital, Mpls, MN, of heart failure. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Marvin & Vernie. He is survived by his wife Laurel; daughters, Sandra Brom, Susan (Dan) Sandager; son Mitchell (Amy) Johnson; grandchildren, Alexa & Alison Brom, Paul & Greg Sandager, Kate & Kyle Johnson; brothers, Robert (June), Milton (Shirley), Bruce (Judy), Arnold, Paul (Erin), Glen (Alice); sister Donna (Larry) Houle; sisters-in-law, Ruby & Marlys Johnson; & many nieces & nephews. Howard served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific; then worked as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 1990.
The family will greet friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September. 9, 2005, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Elim Lutheran Church, 20971 Olinda Trail, Scandia. Private family inurnment will be at Elim Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Elim Lutheran Church.
