Jacquelyn Smith

April 6, 1931 — May 16, 2007

Smith, Jacquelyn J.

age 76

of May Township

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother entered into eternal life on May 16, 2007. Jackie was born on April 6, 1931 in Jackson, Michigan to James and Marjorie Smith. She attended Jackson Senior High School where she met her future husband, Larry Smith. They were married on August. 27, 1950 in Jackson, Michigan.

After helping Larry through college at MSU and earning her PHT (Putting Hubby Through), they moved to Minnesota and on to the "Farm" in 1966. There Jackie raised her family, and "ran" the farm for the next 40 years. One major accomplishment was taking the family (with in-laws) to Europe camping for 6 months.

Jackie loved to travel, read mysteries, and do crossword puzzles; but her favorite activity was to spend time with her family. She was also especially fond of piloting the riding lawn mower around the approximately 2 acres of farmyard. Since Larry's retirement in 1995 they spent two or three months each year as a "snowbird" in the southern U.S.

She is survived by Larry, her husband of 57 years; sister Joyce, children Dave (Jane), Sandra (Jerry), Douglas (Anne), Stuart (Tenely), Marjorie (Jack); 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was known by all to be a compassionate mother and grandmother-always ready to listen to and help any of her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Church, 150 5th Street, Marine on St. Croix. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m., Sunday at the church. Burial at Fifield Cemetery, Jackson, Michigan. Memorials may be directed to Heifer International-www.heifer.org
