James Leroux

James Andrew Leroux March 29, 1935 – June 9, 2014 Of Hugo, Died, Monday, June 9, 2014 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Jim attended West Point Academy and proudly served his country in the United States Army from June 13, 1952-May 31, 1963 when he was honorably discharged. At that time he moved back to Hugo, Minnesota and took over the Leroux family dairy farm. He was a third generation dairy farmer who was proud to pass the legacy on to his children. He married Jane Elizabeth Walton on November 23, 1962, and together they raised twelve children. He was a very loving and compassionate father who greatly loved his children and grand children, and dedicated his life to all of their successes. He was known for extending this caring and generosity beyond his family, and serving as a loving father figure for many. Jim had a heart for service and was extremely active in his community. He served on the Hugo City Council for many years and was an active board member for the Rice Creek Watershed District (6 years), Connexus Energy (30 years), Great River Energy (13 years), Minnesota Rural Electric Association (3 years), and German Farmers Insurance. He was a member of the American Dairy Association, Mid-American Dairy Association, and Minnesota Dairy Herd Improvement Association. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Irene (Proulx) and Joseph Leroux, son, Peter James Leroux; granddaughter, Nicole Chelmo; siblings, Eugene Leroux, Mildred (Gene) Schilz. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Jane (Walton) Leroux; children, Kathleen (Dale) Schwanke, Nancy (Tracy) Chelmo, Victoria (Rich) Krivanek, Dianne (Tim) Dietrich, Janie (Dave) Kolbow, James (Katie) Leroux, Elizabeth (Carmelo) Cinqueonce, Angela (Larry) Leibel, Andrew (Kelly) Leroux, Jacob Leroux, Stephanie Leroux (Justin Mihm); 36 grandchildren, Kayla (Andrew) Nelson, Ethan (Caitlin) Schwanke, Aimee Chelmo, Cassandra (Tony) Densmore, Brittany (Anthony) Langager, Jessica Chelmo, Taylor Krivanek, Jordan Krivanek, Robert Dietrich, Nathaniel Dietrich, Adrianna Dietrich, Marlee Dietrich, Vanessa Kolbow, Jason Kolbow, Joshua Kolbow, Shawn Kolbow, Ryan Kolbow, Emily Leroux, Rita Leroux, Vivian Leroux, John Leroux, Isaac Leroux, Allison Carpenter , Jayna Carpenter, Gabriela Cinqueonce, Kelsi Leibel, Jake Leibel, Isabelle Leibel, Grace Leibel, Zachary Leroux, Evelyn Leroux, Madeline Leroux, Hunter Mihm, Mason Mihm, Mackenzie Mihm ; five great- grandchildren, Ashley Delpino, Bennett Nelson, Parker Nelson, Kaelia Kolbow, Oliver Schwanke; sister-in-law, Cecelia Leroux. He will be greatly missed by all, and his values and legacy will live on. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Church, 14383 Forest Blvd. North, Hugo. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and one hour prior to mass at the church. Interment with full military honors at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
