Janet McDonough

May 13, 1947 — March 7, 2017

Janet "Jan" McDonough, age 69, of Wyoming, Minnesota, passed away, March 7, 2017 after a courageous journey with breast cancer. Jan McDonough was born on May 13, 1947 in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin to Peter and Myrtle (Mickelson) Olson. She attended elementary school in Connorsville Wis., and graduated in 1965 from Boyceville High School, Boyceville, Wisconsin. She received a two year degree in occupational therapy assistance from Anoka Technical College in 1994. Jan married Ed McDonough in 1967 and they had 3 children. They lived in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and have been residents of Linwood Township for the past 46 years. They have spent their winters in Florida for the last 10 years. Jan enjoyed canning, gardening, walking, riding her bike, softball and boating in Hayward. She was a volunteer at Fairview Hospital in Wyoming for several years. She also volunteered her time as a sidewalk counselor for Pro-Life Action Ministries and was a traveling speaker for Christian Women's Club. Jan and Ed enjoyed traveling and visited Israel, Norway, Guatemala, and Canada as well as several states across the country She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their activities and sporting events. She was dedicated to her church in MN and in Florida, and never missed a day without doing her daily devotionals. Jan's work life included part time work as a church secretary, an occupational therapy assistant, and customer service, but the job she most enjoyed was wife, mother and grandmother. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law Larry McDonough and Allen McDonough. She is survived by her husband Ed, children Tammy McDonough-Gast (Steve Gast), Tim, and Brenda (Bob) Beard. Her grandchildren: Ashlie (John) Kennedy, Zach (Brittany) Gast, Laura Gast, Madalyn Gast, Randy Beard, Tylor (Billy) Cummings, Amelia Beard, and Mason Beard. She leaves behind six great grandchildren: Sean, Mia, Kharmyn , Parker, Audrey and Quinn. Also survived by siblings Beverly (Gayle) Tudahl, Ron Olson, and Mary Ann (Bud) Roos. Also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 26680 Faxton Ave, Wyoming, MN 55092. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, March 16th at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, and continue one hour prior to service at the church. Interment at West Akers Cemetery in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pro-Life Action Ministries, 1163 Payne Ave, Saint Paul MN 55130.
