Janice Stewart

Janice A. Stewart, age 73 of Forest Lake, formerly of Proctor, Minnesota, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 following a brief illness. Jan was born December 9, 1939 in Cloquet, Minnesota, the daughter of Alven and Agnes (Harms) Wedlund. She graduated from Proctor High School, Class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Thomas Stewart on July 9, 1960. They were married at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Together, they owned and operated the Piggly Wiggly in Proctor for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary in Proctor; where she was Past President. Following retirement, they moved to Forest Lake in 2005, where she became very involved in her community and Hosanna Lutheran Church. Jan was always willing to lend a hand wherever her talents were needed and became the "go to gal" for those who knew they could count on Jan! She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; brother, Jerry Wedlund. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her including, her devoted children, Bill Stewart, Sandy (Troy) Sawicki, Laurie (Tom) Bednarczyk; grandchildren, Nick (Tara), Ashley, Courtney, Toddie, Brooke, Molly; great grandson, Jackson; sister, Lorraine (Mike) Kramer; sister –in-law, Lynn Wedlund, Nancy (George) Stafstrom; brother-in-law, Ivan (Marcia) Stewart; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 28, 2013 at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 9300 Scandia Trail, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Elim Lutheran Cemetery, Scandia.
