Jean Merlin

Jean R. Merlin, age 88 of Shoreview, Minnesota, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Jean was born January 15, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Bloch) Walloch. Jean was an avid quilter and truly enjoyed expressing her artistic and creative side through the many pieces she made throughout the years. When she was not working on a project, Jean loved to read; particularly Western Romance and could be found enjoying the thrill of the casino on occasion. She was a cat person, who had a soft spot for her four-legged family; especially Henry and Herb. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald; siblings, Nestor Walloch and Marcella Huber. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her including her children, Mark (Robin) Merlin, Janet (Dave) Hanson, Mike Merlin; grandchildren, Jason Richard (Bobbi), Peter, Jason Alan (Angela), Jenora (Jason), Jacey (Ryan), Jody (Darin), Amy (Erik); nine great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Whitney. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Private Family Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Maplewood, Minnesota.
