Jerry Brown

Jerry L. Nelson Brown, age 74 of Forest Lake, died unexpectedly at his home on July 31, 2014. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake with a service staring at 7:00 pm. Jerry Lynn Brown was born May 8, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio to Bernie and Helen Brown. He spent his early years in his home town where he graduated from high school in 1958 and went on to receive his MBA Degree from the University of Toledo. Jerry got his career started with Procter and Gamble in product sales which enabled him to move to Minnesota in the late 1960's. He and his wife, Paula, made their home in Circle Pines and later in the Blaine area where they raised their children. Jerry was an entrepreneur at heart and continued to use his creativity to inspire him in a variety of ways. Through the years Jerry worked in economic development in cities like New Richmond, WI and Willmar, MN, and also invented 20 card and board games. Jerry earned his Master's Degree in Marketing. Jerry married his long-time love, Shirley Nelson on October 12, 2013 in Bayport, MN. Jerry always took an interest in writing but recently started investing more of his time and energy to writing poetry and creating a book about business development techniques. He enjoyed golfing and spending time at coffee shops. Jerry was passionate about music and theatre, and took special interest in supporting the local arts. Jerry is survived by his wife Shirley; his four children, Kristen Brown, Kelly (Chris) Cusick, Holly Brown and Paul (Christina) Wagner-Brown; former wife, Paula Brown; grandchildren, Samantha, Casey and Eleadora; mother, Helen Brown; brothers, Ron (Mang-Mang) Brown, Len (Marla) Brown and Dennis (Louise) Brown and a family cast of thousands. He is preceded in death by his father, Bernie.
