Jo Frogh

Joan (Jo) Theresa Frogh, age 91, of Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025. She was born on March 25, 1933, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Bernard and Matilda (Tillie) (Hallman) Selinske.  Jo graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in St Paul. She married Donald Frogh and together, they raised their three children in Roseville, Minnesota. Besides hosting many lively family parties, Jo was a member of The Weaver’s Guild, involved with local political concerns and was active in her kid's school as a room-mother and a member of the PTA. Later in life, she continued her education at the College of St. Catherine, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. In the early 90s, Jo and Don built their retirement home on a bay of Big Marine Lake near Scandia. She had four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She wasn’t just a grandma to her grandchildren; she was a JoJo. She enjoyed reading poetry, baking, playing music, and doing arts and crafts with them. Jo enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including politics, gardening and quilting. She loved to write. She wrote poetry, journaled every day and she authored a book titled Warp Up and Weave On - A Guided Lesson in the Frame Loom. Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; and her siblings, Lorraine Halley, Audrey Yonaka, and Steve Selinske. She is survived by her children, Doug Frogh, Elise (Craig) Hiljus, and Lesley Szenay; her grandchildren, Taylor (Kevin) Gildersleeve, Lauren Szenay, Rachel Szenay, and Tred Hiljus; and her great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Gildersleeve and Hudson Gildersleeve. Jo is also survived by numerous, much-loved nieces and nephews, other family members and friends who will miss her deeply. A celebration of Jo’s life will be held at a later date. Jo’s legacy of love, wisdom, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
