John Anthony Gemmill, age 59, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, was called home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with his health.
John was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his dad; Les Gemmill; and brother-in-law, John Kaufman who have all passed away within the last 61 days.
Despite an extensive battle with addiction, John was finally able to overcome his demons and surrendered his life to the Lord in August of 2021. He was proudly 14 months sober thanks to the help of Metro Hope Ministries. His family was so proud of his accomplishments and enjoyed getting to spend these past 14 months with the man we always knew he could be.
John will forever be remembered for his love for the Green Bay Packers, his sense of humor, and his obsessive sweet tooth for mountain dew and black licorice.
John is survived by his loving mother, Aggie Gemmill; four sisters, Leslie Gemmill, Terri Kaufman, Tina (Kendall) Friese, and Lisa Gemmill; two daughters, Brandi Gemmill (Andy Schmidt) and Brittany Seel (Karl); one grandson, Quentin Seel; six nieces and nephews, Candi (Eric) Dahl, Chrissy (Trevor) Osterbauer, Kelli (Jesse) Griffiths, Ethan (Allie) Salau, Joel (Monica) Friese, Tianna (Layton) Larson; and eight great nieces and nephews, Graysen Rich, Remmingten Osterbauer, Logan & Theo Larson, Noah & Juliana Griffiths, and two baby boys on the way.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Mattson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN 55025.
