John Broos Jr

John R. Broos Jr. "Lollipop Man", age 72 of Forest Lake, Minnesota. John was born, May 31, 1943 in Saint Paul, Minnesota passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016. John was a member of American Legion Post 225 of Forest Lake. He served as Third Degree Grand Knight of the Blaine/Coon Rapids and Forest Lake Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Fourth Degree. John was an artist who loved cribbage, Uno, building wooden puzzles and watching scary movies. On weekends, John would be in the crying room at St. Peter's Church passing out lollipops to the children. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ann; sisters, Alice Heiderscheid and Patricia Matekiewicz. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Ann (nee Tahnk); children, John III (Karen) of Dublin, CA, Jacqueline(Ronald) Foss and Julie Hawkins of Blaine, MN; Christine (Brent) Juliot of Otsego, MN, Robert Broos of Saint Paul, MN granddaughter, Mikayla Foss; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Elm Street, Lino Lakes. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to mass at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
