Joseph Remitz

Joseph "Joe" Remitz, age 96 of Forest Lake, Minnesota, died February 6, 2014. Joe served in the Army Air Corps during WWII (with the 8th Air Force), and led his B-24 Squadron on 33 missions over Germany, Poland and France. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with clusters and many others. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mickey; brother, Florian. He is survived by his children: Rita (Charlie) Flory, Joe (Colleen), Steve (Judy), Dan, Mike, Pat, Chris (Barb), Colleen (Mike) Grant, Duke, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 1-3 pm at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 N. Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota. Private interment at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred and may be directed to St. Peters Catholic Church, Forest Lake VFW Post 4210, or Forest American Legion Post 225.
