Joseph L. Vodonik PhD., age 89, of Arden Hills and native son of Chisholm, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home, surrounded by his family on July 9, 2006.
Preceded in death by parents, Mary & Joseph Vodovnik; brother, Jim; grandson, Bryan; and nephew, Mark Vodonick.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Leona; children, Linda E. (Patrick) Kenney; Steven J.; Sally A. (Patrick) Gruber; grandchildren, Emilie, Joseph, Nikolas, John, Sheila, Henry, Alex, Tatjana, Jessica, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Joseph, Sarah; siblings, Emil "E.J.", Elizabeth Dodgers, Raymond; 7 nieces; 7 nephews; cousins; and many close friends.
Joe received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1948. He was the inventor of the process to make polyester fiber and film, technology still in use around the World. Among his many other accomplishments, include the development of Psychomathematics.
Most importantly, Joe poured out his life for his family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM, Friday, July 14, 2006, CHURCH OF ST. PAUL, 1740 Bunker Lake Blvd. NE, Ham Lake. Visitation 5-8 PM, Thursday, July 13, MATTSON FUNERAL HOME, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, with wake vigil at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass at the church. Burial Service 1:15 PM in Resurrection Cemetery.
