Josephine Berger

Josephine "Jo" Berger, age 90 of Forest Lake, died peacefully on January 2, 2016, while surrounded by family. Jo was born to John and Sarah (Murphy) Mugrauer in Brooklyn, New York, but moved to St. Paul at the age of 18 months. Jo graduated from Monroe High School and attended business college before going to work for Farmers Insurance Co. Jo also worked for St. Paul Companies before moving to Forest Lake in March of 1945, where she took a job at Wagner's Café. This is where she met her husband, Norman, to whom she was married for 48 years. Jo spent 70 years in Forest Lake, where she was a longtime parishioner and volunteer at The Church of St. Peter. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Norman Berger. She is survived by three daughters, Christine (Wayne) Houle, Jeanne (Bob) Lackore, Karen (George) Bowman; two sons, Robert (Judy) Berger and Donald (DeeAnn) Berger; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at The Church of St. Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Family will greet friends in St. Peter's Hall following interment. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake. Memorials preferred to St. Andrews Village Mission Benevolence Fund, 240 East Avenue, Mahtomedi, MN 55115.
