Joy Mackey

Joy Ann Mackey, age 61, died Thursday, March 5, 2015. She was born August 9, 1953 to Joan J. and William H. Mackey in St. Paul, MN. Joy was born with a metabolic disorder called PKU and lived most of her life at Cambridge State Hospital. In later years she lived in two group homes—Evergreen Home in Cambridge, MN and most recently, West River Home in Brooklyn Park, MN. We are grateful to the countless people who cared for Joy over the years. Her unprecedented longevity is a tribute to the quality of that care. Joy is preceded in death by her parents, William and Joan Mackey and survived by her sisters, Susan Mackey (Robert Schnieger) and Kim Fowler (David) and by her parent's extended families. A memorial service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to the Minnesota Medical Foundation or the National PKU Alliance.
