Joyce Manthey, age 91, born Joyce Mary Olson, March 19, 1933, in Minneapolis to Adolph and Effie Olson, beloved and wise mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully after a long, fulfilling, and joyous life on November 12, 2024. Among her many accomplishments was raising six children, serving in the Anoka-Hennepin school food service for nineteen years, and always having the best luck in finding a four-leaf clover in a field of grass. Preceded in death by sister, Jean Nixon; husbands, Daryl L. Lawrence and Carl R. Manthey, as well as son, Jeffrey Lawrence and grandson, David Manthey Jr. Survived by sons, Stephen, Scott (Peggy), Timothy, and David (Patricia) Lawrence, daughter, Mary (Michael) Andersen; stepsons, Daniel (Debbie), Jerry, and David (Debbie) Manthey; stepdaughter, Julie (Donald) Volkheimer, and a wealth of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 19921 Nightingale Street NW, Oak Grove, Minnesota. Visitation one hour prior to mass at the church. A luncheon will follow at the church. Joyce will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake. A reception will follow at the VFW Post 4210, 556 12th Street SW, Forest Lake.
