Julia Meyer

Julia V. Meyer, age 93 of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, died following a brief illness on Friday, November 07, 2014 at the Birchwood Health Care Center while surrounded by her family. Julia was born June 3, 1921 in Salo, Minnesota, where she attended and graduated from high school. She was an entrepreneur at heart; owning her own restaurant, bar and laundry mat. She later began schooling to become a dietician and worked for many years at area nursing homes. Julia loved her home "up north" and everything outdoors. She had a HUGE heart; always finding an extra bowl or scratch behind the ear for a stray cat or dog. Julia loved helping people, cooking for them and lending a listening ear. She also enjoyed a trip or two to the casino, Hinckley and Black Bear being two of her favorites! She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bryant Conrad Meyer; siblings, Lawrence, Elmer, Leo, John, Whitey, Jan. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her including her children, Janet (William) Daun, David (Marie) Meyer; grandchildren, Mark (Stacy) McCollough, Jesse (Anne) Meyer, Kathy (Jay) Schintgen, Michelle (Nate) Steele; eleven great- grandchildren; many other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Forest Lake. Memorials are preferred to the family
