Karen Medek

Karen Sue Medek Age 69, of Wyoming, MN passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 25th from a battle with cancer. Karen was born on May 23rd 1945 in Bethany, MO and moved to Minnesota in 1979. Preceded in death by parents Irene and John Bennett; Brothers Charles and Ronnie; Daughter Angela Kay Root; Step-son Thomas R. Medek; Great-granddaughter Blaise Angela Root. Survived by her husband of 16 years Bob; Daughters Carla, Laura (Alan), Anita (David), Son Anthony and adopted daughter Kelli (Greg); 4 Step-children, Brian, Christine (Kenny), Bill (Lisa), Marie (Jason); 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister Sharon (David); brothers Everett (Debbie), Johnny (Pixie); sister-in-law Betty (Kenny). Karen was a beautiful person whose family was the most important part of her life; children, step-children, grand- children, great grandchildren, and great-great grand-children. Her friends were many and her love for them was very evident. She loved to care for her many gardens and we could safely say she had a "green thumb". She worked for many years as a bus aide for the Forest Lake district and cared for special needs children. She truly loved her work and the children loved her. Probably her most enduring quality was her ability to be a very good listener as many of her friends and family would attest to. She will be greatly missed and loved forever. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2014 at The Church of St. Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. with prayer service at 7 pm Sunday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing from 9:00-10:00 Monday at the funeral home. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
