Karen Reed

Karen S. Reed, age 70, of Forest Lake, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 while surrounded by her family. Karen was born May 25, 1942 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Edna (Dombrock) Bonderson. She grew up on a farm in Taylors Falls with her two brothers and four sisters. She attended school in Taylors Falls and was a cheerleader. Throughout high school she worked at Frost Top in downtown Taylors Falls. She graduated Class of 1960. Following graduation, she attended business school for two years and worked as a dental technician. In the summer of 1963, she was united in marriage to Thomas Reed. She later worked as the ward secretary at Midway Hospital before staying home to raise her beautiful children, Barry, Joey, Stephanie and Brenda. As their children grew older, she returned to the workforce as the business office administrator at Edward Jones in Forest Lake. She remained on call for them during her retirement. Karen was a member of Linwood Covenant Church. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, camping, cooking and most of all spending time with her precious grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving, kind, generous, happy and hospitable wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edna Bonderson; son, Barry. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband of 49 years, Tom; daughters, Joey (Mark) Strong, Stephanie (Adam) Wood, Brenda (Jeff) Kari; daughter-in-law, Peggy Reed; grandchildren, Berkeley, Max, Sam, Tommy, Kennedy Jo; siblings, many relatives and friends. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Linwood Covenant Church, 6565 Viking Blvd NE, Wyoming. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to the service at the church.
