Kenneth Banta

Kenneth Banta, age 86, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, died suddenly on December 2, 2013 at his home. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ken was born December 29, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the age of 11, his parents relocated to Arlington, Virginia. His grandparents had a farm in Wyoming and he spent the summers there. Ken served his country during WWII Occupation and the Korean War. After the service he enrolled at the U of M and received his BS in Agriculture and Economics. His yearning to farm led him to purchase land in Forest Lake. He farmed for ten years and lived on the farm for 55 years. He worked for FmHA for 20 years. His passion was genealogy and history and was active in the Forest Lake and Chisago County Historical Societies. He entertained the grandkids with the same old stories and will be dearly missed! He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arliss; five children, Keith of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Kathy (Dominic) Comeratte of Wasilla, Alaska, Dave (Beth) of Cloquet, Minnesota, Mark (Cindy) of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Doug of St. Paul, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, David Scott, Kelly, Chris, Dominic Jr., Ashton, Joshua, Jenny; three great grandchildren, Owen, Cedar Rose, Finnin; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 9300 Scandia Trail, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Private family interment will be held at Wyoming United Methodist Cemetery with Full Military Honors. The family requests NO FLOWERS. Memorials are preferred to Hosanna Lutheran Church or to the donor choice.
