Laurence Lechner

Lechner, Laurence T.age 96of Forest Lakedied, Thursday, January 29, 2004Laurence was born November 28, 1907 in Fessenden, North Dakota, the son of Edward and Theresa (Platte) Lechner. He is a graduate of Concordia College, Moorehead & University of Minnesota and has a masters degree in education. He was a life long educator-teacher, coach, and superintendent for over 40 years in the Minnesota Communities of Elmore, Hewitt, Mazeppa, LeRoy, Perham, Gilbert, and Forest Lake. He was the superintendant of Forest Lake Schools from 1965-1973. He and his wife Elsie made their home in Forest Lake for twenty years before moving to Green Acres Care Center in North Branch. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lions Club, Retired Teachers Association and very active throughout the Forest Lake community. He was a friend to all he met. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson; Robert Tosterud Jr. and sister ; Adeline Schmidt. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Elsie, daughters; Nancy (Cleve) Moore, Karen (Dr. Robert) Tosterud, grandchildren, Greg (Chenchen) Moore, Barbara (Chris) Deigert, Jonathan (Marissa) Tosterud, great granddaughter; Isobel Tosterud, and brother Dr. Edgar (Evie) Lechner. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Faith Lutheran Church - 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 P.M., Monday at Mattson Funeral Home - 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, continuing one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Scandinavian Cemetery.
