Laurie P. Lawrence

Laurie P. Lawrence, age 64, of Linwood Township, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025.

Laurie was born on January 10, 1961, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Allan and Joan (Meyer) Lawrence. She spent her childhood in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, where she graduated from Grand Rapids High School. Laurie pursued higher education in Hibbing and later continued her studies at various colleges in the Twin Cities.

Her professional journey led her to a career in drafting and design, and later a fulfilling career culminating in 38 dedicated years as a Transmission Line Designer with Xcel Energy. She took great pride in her work and the connections she made throughout her career.

On a once-in-a-lifetime Leap Day, February 29, 2004, Laurie married the love of her life, David Sime, in a truly unforgettable ceremony at the Mall of America. Dave had written a heartfelt poem that won a local contest, granting them the unique honor of exchanging vows in front of thousands of guests, their families, and God. Together, they built a life in Linwood Township, filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.

Laurie found joy in creativity, expressing herself through crochet, needlepoint, and handmade cards. She also embraced the outdoors, cherishing time spent hunting and fishing alongside Dave. Her warmth, kindness, and thoughtful nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Allan. Laurie is survived by her loving husband, Dave Sime; her mother, Joan Lawrence; brothers, Allan (Angela) Lawrence and Dave Lawrence; her cherished cats, Bobbi and Kloe; and many dear friends and extended family members.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota.

Laurie’s memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
