Lawrence Theodore Carlson, age 96, of Scandia, Minnesota, went to meet his Lord, on Monday, March 8, 2010. He was born June 15, 1913, the second of ten children, born to Arthur and Florence Carlson. In 1948, he met his future wife, Beatrice Mitchell Panchot, and her son Jerry, and they were married on March 4, 1949. He adopted Jerry shortly after. On December 18, 1951 his daughter Karen was born and on April 13, 1954 his daughter Joyce was born. He spent most of his life as a hard working, successful dairy farmer. When he retired from farming, they moved to their current home in Scandia in 1981. There he took up the hobbies of bowling and woodworking until he went blind in 2000. Even then he continued to bowl many more years. He made TV trays, plant stands, magazine tables, picnic tables, recipe boxes, tissue boxes, picture frames, and knick knack shelves. He also made toy trains, cars and other toys for kids. After going blind, he became an avid listener to books on tape. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Florence Carlson; brothers, Evald Carlson and Wesley Carlson; and sisters, Irene Sathrum and Pearl Dornfeld; and grandson, Shawn Carlson. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; his children, son Jerry Carlson and wife Shirley, daughter Karen Kazeck and husband David, and daughter Joyce Nelson and husband David; his brothers Wallace & Irene Carlson, and Luther & Mavis Carlson; and his sisters Genevieve Peterson, Dolores & Jack Nelson, and Luverne Lundeberg; eight grandchildren, Douglas Carlson, Nicole Kuhn, Jonathan Wright, Christopher Wright, Daniel Wright, Erick Kazeck, Melynda, Kazeck, & Rebekka Bahnemann, and ten great-grandchildren, Shawn & Miranda Carlson, Ivy & Holly Kuhn, Erica & Lillian Wright, MaKenna & Meghan Wright, and Allysun & Alexis Kazeck; along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 at Elim Lutheran Church, 20971 Olinda Trail North, Scandia. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake; continuing one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Elim Lutheran Cemetery.
