Lawrence Emmanuel Groshens, known affectionately as Larry, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the age of 88. Born on September 18, 1935, in the city of Alpha, Martin County, Minnesota. Larry was the beloved son of Lawrence and Ella Groshens.
Larry grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota and graduated from Harding High School in the Class of 1956. Following high school he met the love of his life Rosalie Pastorius, and they were united in marriage in a beautiful ceremony at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Their love and commitment carried them through the ups and downs of life and created a foundation of strength for their family.
As a devoted and hardworking individual, Larry worked for several companies. His first career was as a Supervisor for McMillan Manufacturing CO. in Saint Paul. After the company was sold, he pursued a career as a delivery driver working for Plastic Products Company in Lindstrom, Minnesota.
Outside of his work, Larry had many passions; he created many woodworking items for his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching the Vikings and John Wayne Westerns on his big flat-screen television. During retirement, Rosalie and Larry loved to travel and were able to spend time crossing the United States, visiting relatives, and making new friends. The real love of their travels was Hawaii, where they enjoyed going multiple times. Retirement also included many lazy days spent on Goose Lake.
Larry was a beloved husband, a cherished father, and an amazing grandpa. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his wife of 66-years, Rosalie, his partner in life's journey. He will be deeply missed by his children, Charles (Jean) Groshens, Shawn (Wendy) Groshens, Peanut Groshens, Rosie (Steve) Ulrich, Joseph (Heather) Groshens, and James Groshens, as well as his 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who were a great source of joy and pride for Larry; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Maynard (Delores) Pastorius, Mary Jo (Jim) Pickering; nieces, nephews, many other family and friends.
